Bavarian State Office for Asylum and Return
The Bavarian State Office for Asylum and Return (LfAR) has been founded in mid-2018 to focus statewide responsibilites in the range of return and voluntary return and to further expand the associated operational administrative tasks.
The LfAR is a subordinate agency of the Bavarian State Ministry of the Interior, for Sport and Integration.

The Bavarian State Office for Asylum and Return (LfAR) is responsible for statewide operational administrative tasks in the area of return and voluntary return, particulary with regard to:
- operational cooperation with authorities, organisations and institutions responsible for enforcing the obligation to return
- the processing of requests for return from the immigration authorities
- coordination of collective return
- coordination of digital applications in the area of return
- central procurement of passport replacement papers and return documents and the associated measure to establish and secure identity
- promotion of voluntary return and reintegration projects
- coordination and reinforcement of the various return programs
- function as Central office foreign extremist groupings
- intensification of return of rioting and violent foreigners through a specially established Central Office Task Force
- organisation of the Transit and Pre-return detention facility at Munich airport

The Bavarian State Office for Asylum and Return (LfAR) is an authority directly subordinated to the Bavarian State Ministry of the Interior, Sport and Integration (StMI) and consists of the following three departments:

The Bavarian State Office for Asylum and Return is represented at various locations throughout Bavaria. The two main domiciles are located in Ingolstadt/Manching and Munich.
Further locations are at the Munich airport (Transit and Pre-return detention facility) as well as in Berlin and Ansbach: A broad thematic network with other authorities results in decentralized representations such as in the Joint Centre for Return Assistance (ZUR) in Berlin. At the Central Immigration Office in Ansbach, employees from our Central Office Foreign Extremism can also be found.
